A lot of people don't know this but im actually studying to get my Bachelors degree in Business Management and on of this weeks assignments was about values and mission statements. Well to keep this short and sweet it asked us to name 5-10 big decisions we made this week and then explain how they are related to your values. Well thats kind of hard to do when we really don't think about that kind of stuff everyday. But I did the assignment and I just wanted to share what I wrote.
Values I made 5 big decisions this week.
I wouldn’t exactly say I have a mission statement. Its more like a quote that has stuck with me on a daily basis for many years now. Its something one of my favorite wrestlers said, “The first step in achieving your goal, is to take a moment to respect your goal. Know what it means to you to achieve it.” Dwayne The Rock Johnson. I will not lie I sat in from of my computer and could not figure out how to put what I want to say onto paper. I look at the decisions and think about how they will effect my life in the long run. By making a wrong decision could effect the others. For one they all come together to help me in my fitness goals and how I want to help others get inspired to just get up and start a healthy life style as well. By becoming a vegetarian it shows other I want take make more conscious decisions on what kinds of foods I’m putting into my body. The supplements was just a way to try something new and different especially since there are so many options out there today. The blogging is way to share with others how I live and get an insight to what I’m doing to help improve my life and what they may do to better their lives. The meal prepping with different foods helps me keep what I’m doing daily from being boring. By changing my workout schedule helps me be more be more with getting other things done like work, school, church, and family activities. Now again it was difficult to make these decisions because it meant giving up a lot and gaining so much. The challenges ahead of me will be worth the results I get. I will feel better about my self and look better. Also I will hopefully inspire at least one person to make the changes in their life as well.

Well its been three days and I have not eaten any meat. The other day I posted that I was becoming a vegetarian and I was going to see what kind of results I would get from this. Now like I said I haven't ate any meats but im still struggling on staying away from other bad foods at the moment. But I know I can make the necessary changes to keep away from the junk food that will most likely ruin my results. But I'm staying strong on the no meat so far and I will be going to the gym tonight at 11pm. Now just because I'm a vegetarian now doesn't mean I won't go hard in the gym as I usually do be im still getting about the same amount of proteins and vitamins as before just on a cleaner diet.
just yesterday I tried vegan chili that my wife made and even tough it wasn't spicy it was still pretty good and very filling. And tonight we are eating tacos with soy taco meat. I know I said meat but its not actual meat. Its a plant based meat replacement meaning its made of plants but has the same features as meats but its still not meat. I got the same reaction from some people on instagram when I ate a plant base chicken. These things sound strange but once you try it you won't be able to tell the difference. I would encourage anyone to try it if you really wanna lose some wight because after three days I can tell that my body is cleaning itself out if you know what I mean. My digestive system mostly and its usually right after I eat. But ill start seeing results after a while. For a long time now I have chosen to meal prep a certain way. I have packed all of my foods with the basic foods in order to get healthy. You know the usual foods such as chicken breast, fish, and some kind of beef. Now I have seen some results over the years by eating theses food with things like vegetables, potatoes, and rice. Typical weightlifter foods right. Well I decided after many years to try a different approach on meal prepping. I have decided to become a vegetarian. Yeah I know what many have thought when I told them this and most of them thought that I was a little crazy or doubted me a little. Well when I put my mind to something I usually stick with it and make it part of my life. Eating healthy has never really been a problem for me. I think my problem is I am just use to eating meats. I mean who doesn't get used to a good burger or steak every now and then.
I made the decision a few days ago when I started realizing how much weight my wife was losing on her vegan diet. She is looking a lot better and is feeling better after she stopped eating meat. While she has also cut out dairy and other things that can't be eaten on a vegan diet, I can just tell and see that she has had some outstanding results since she cut it from her diet. I for one want similar results like she had but of course I don't want it to ruin my strength or muscle gains that I have been working on lately. I do want to shed a lot of fat off my body in order to get ready for the vacation im taking next month with my wife. And as well as live a healthier life style. Choosing to do this is going to be something new and fresh because it has been kind of boring with eating the same things daily. By also choosing to do this I will be able to show that a good diet plan can have great results along with being disciplined. Well im going to make this short this time so until next time people. Ok let me just jump straight into this. Not having enough time is one of the biggest excuses I hear all the time from people who wanna got to the gym but don't. I mean we have 24 hours in a day. Depending on what you do for a living, you usually use eight hours for working. So that leaves us with 16 in the day. But then it also depends on when you wake up and what time you go to work. But in this case lets say you work a normal 9-5. So your up at 7am daily and usually get home at around 6pm. so you have 6 hours total left in the day. What could you possibly be doing for that long that you can't get up and got to the gym.
Most will say that they get home and rest and cook and clean and what not. But does it take 6 hours or more to do all of the things you need to do. We as people usually already know what were going to cook before we even get home. And if your not home all day then your house cannot be that messy. your work 8 hours a day and probably only have to wash work clothes so that can wait until the weekend unless it a uniform then yeah wash it. Cooking shouldn't take that long unless you have a huge family or literally make all your food from scratch. But realistically it takes maybe an hour and half if that. And while your cooking, if it something that can be thrown in the oven, you can be cleaning up while your waiting for your food. Your an adult and have been cooking for a long time so you know how long something needs to take to be finished. So by the time the food is ready, you could have finished cleaning whatever needs to be cleaned including the dishes you used. And if your cleaning that means you could of done that laundry you needed to do. That washer could of been going while cooking and cleaning and the dryer going while your eating. Which means tyou have finished everything in lets just say a two hour period. Now what to do in a 4 hour period. Lets see maybe kick back and watch something on Netflix or maybe sit on facebook and see what funny video your friend tagged you in. Or maybe lets jump in the car and hit the gym for an hour. I know you worked all day and did all your house stuff but hey you got 4 hours to kill and no excuse to not go and hit the gym for a bit. I mean you can got do some kind of workout in an hour and be back home to watch some Netflix and then be on facebook. Or we could go to sleep early and hit the gym in the early morning and go straight to work after. Me personally I go to the gym at 12am four times a week and you know what its not that bad. I go and workout and come home and shower then off to bed for a few hours. Then im up at 6 or 7 in the morning in order to get ready for the day and eat breakfast. Then at about 8am I head to work and get there at about 9am and don't get off until 7:30pm. I get home and eat and do school work since I am studying to get my bachelors at the moment. I chill for a bit and cook my lunches for the next day all while I wash my dishes as I use them so that they don't pile up one me. And after this I sit and chill with my wife and kids for an hour. Usually while I cook and everything I get my gym bag ready and change so that when 11:45pm hits I can just grab my bag and go. I get to the gym and workout for at least 2 hours or less. Since no one is really there I can take my time and really focus on what I need to do. Once im done I go home and well you know drink a protein shake, shower, sleep, and repeat it all the next day. Your situation could be different you may have a little bit more on your plate and maybe you just don't have the motivation to get it done. Either way if you want this bad enough you will make time. You will put aside the things that are not all that important and get in the gym or hell just work out in the living room. If your into yoga then do it. Just make the time to get it done. We manage to make time for other crap like new shoes, a movie, and sometimes the damn McRIb when it comes around. Either way if you can make time for nonsense and make time to make excuses then you can get a workout in. Right now we are all motivated on going to the gym because of the New Year New Me still fresh on the mind. Well what happens when that motivation and hype goes away? The answer to that is just get up and go. You see anyone can say anything to try and motivate you and get you hyped up on going to the gym. But what it comes down to it, how important is it for you to go to the gym? What is it that got you to think about going, what got you there, what is it that made you make this decision to get into fitness? Ask yourself theses questions and try to remember what it was that pushed you to go.
Ill tell you straight up what it was that pushed me to sign up to a gym and what got me eating right. It was the way I felt when I woke up in the morning and saw myself in the mirror. I kept seeing this out of shape person that looked miserable and felt that way to. I didn't always look this way and I know that I had let myself go a little because my mind set was that im married and don't need to look good for anyone else so oh well. Man I was wrong about that. Also seeing old pictures of myself on the wall of my home when I played sports made me feel ashamed because I looked great and was extremely active. So one day I decided to do something about and since then I have felt great. I mean I'm not in top notch shape but I'm better than the person I used to see in the morning. Another thing that keeps me going back to the gym and eating better is by setting small goals for myself. For example when I started lifting weights again I felt weak when I would bench or leg press. So I started a weekly goal that I would add on 5-10 pounds to my bench every week and get to a curtain amount of weight by the end of the month. I did the same for weight loss goals. Every week my goal was to lose just 1 pound. Its not a crazy number and is east to achieve. By making small goals and by obtaining them it keeps me motivated and wanting to keep on this path I'm on. So whatever keeps you motivated just keep doing that and don't let up on it either. Don't stop thinking about what got you started and always stay positive. First I just want to start by thanking you for stoping by and reading this. This will be my first post to a blog ever. I usually never really like to share with anybody but hey I feel like I have a lot to say so why not post. Your probably wondering what does this punk gotta say that hasn't already been said about fitness for a beginner. Well first of all I have a lot to say about it and second I know all about that feeling you have right now. At one point I felt it to. I felt as if someone always had something to say about fitness or was always trying to give me advice and to be honest with you I never knew what the fuck they were trying to say to me. I always felt like that would speak and lose me 5 minutes into the conversation. And the people im talking about are the ones who know all the big fancy words that have to do with the science behind fitness. What they fail to realize is that an everyday average Joe like ourselves have no clue on anything they tell us.
Now Im not saying that I don't know what im talking about because I do. I know how to work hard and how stay disciplined when it comes to bettering myself. I have been going to the gym for years now and you'll be surprised on how I have somewhat maintained my weight for so long. Now I haven't really gained weight but I haven't lost either and thats a personal choice because I like that size I am at right now but eventually ill want to lose some pounds as I get a little older and need to become a little lighter on my feet so I can keep up with my kids. But to get to the point of this page is to share what Ive learned over the years with anyone willing to sit and read about it. Hey if want to ask me questions Ill answer as well but for the most part its to let a lot of you out there know that someone knows what your going through as you set out on this new journey of fitness. Its to help you know understand that we all had to start somewhere just like you are now and that you don't have to be on this journey alone. We can share ideas and help each other stay motivated and guide each other to achieve our goals. So feel free to read the blogs ill be posting every week and if you feel like asking something or feel like sharing just email me and ill answer or share what you want. |
